There is no doubt that we live in troubling times, and everyone is concerned about what the future may hold. Uncertainty can paralyse and confound us, stopping us from taking action.

It’s said that people spend more time planning their holidays than their careers. As none of us are going on holiday anytime soon, now is the best time to prepare for when the market improves.

It is the perfect time to review your resume/CV, LinkedIn profile and networking strategy, as well as deciding how best to articulate your value proposition and the unique skills you will bring to your next employer.

Ask yourself these questions:

· Does your resume need attention?

· Do you know what your personal brand is and the value you bring to an organisation?

· Is your LinkedIn profile complete, including a photo?

· Do you know what your networking strategy is?

Recently I’ve been working as a career transition coach providing guidance and support to people who have experienced a role redundancy – a situation I have experienced myself.

I am fortunate to be working with the people I am coaching as they inspire me with their stories, amaze me with their unique skills and show me what a privilege is it to support them during a time of great upheaval.

In return, I have encouraged them to find their hidden strengths, polish their value proposition, describe their transferable skills and the unique value they can bring to a new organisation. They become more agile, versatile and flexible – just the traits employers need right now.

I can help you find your unique value too.

Use this “hibernation” time wisely and be ready for when the next job opportunity comes your way.
